The Asanteman Europe association is preparing to organize its inauguration in Amsterdam
Everything is ready for the highly anticipated inauguration of Asanteman Europe, a non-profit organization bringing together Asantes in Europe.
The event is scheduled to take place on July 2, 2022 at Schepenbergweg 15, 1105 AS in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The theme of the inauguration is “Empowering the Ghanaian child through education: the role of Asanteman Europe”.
Asanteman Europe is an association made up of 15 Asante member associations spread over 11 European countries. Asanteman’s 15 member unions are based in Belgium, the UK, Austria, Germany, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
The associations are Asante Kroye Kuo (Austria), Asanteman Royals Association Dusseldorf, Asanteman Kuo Berlin, Asanteman Kuo Hamburg eV, Asanteman Düsseldorf eV all in Germany respectively.
The others are Asanteman Union Switzerland, Asanteman Italy, Asanteman Nkabomu-Kuo (UK), Asanteman Traditional Council of the Netherlands, Asanteman Association (Brussels-Belgium), Asanteman Association Antwerp-Belgium, Asanteman Finland Ry (Finland), Asantemankuo Sweden, Asanteman Denmark and Asanteman Norway.
Speaking to Adom News ahead of the inauguration, the chairman of the planning committee, also the Adontenhene of Asanteman Holland, Nana Kwabena Opoku explained that preparations were well advanced for the upcoming occasion.
Outlining the day’s activities, Nana Opoku said there will be a fundraiser to support bright but needy children in Ghana to effect necessary change and create a better world for poor and needy children.
Nana Opoku pointed out that there will be cultural exposure and rich Asante culture to educate children of Asante lineage to know and understand their history and culture.
Nana Opoku said part of the funds will also go to support health institutions such as Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Manhyia District Hospital, Asante Mampong Government Hospital and other hospitals. in the regions of Ahafo, Volta respectively.
He added that the Asanteman Europe Association seeks to promote cultural activities, unity, social integration, cultural diversity and to generate funds to support development activities across Europe and Ghana.
Meanwhile, the Holland Asantemanhene, Nana Onipamu Osei Kufour, said the Asante Traditional Council in Holland was well prepared to welcome all the dignitaries and guests expected on the occasion.
He also assured that patrons of the event should be thrilled by the richness of Asante culture and exposure.
For his part, Holland Asantemanhemaa, also Otumfuo Dampoanohemaa, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko Kesewaa, said their goal is to educate children about the rich Asante culture. She also took the opportunity to invite all Ghanaians and Africans in Europe to attend the event in large numbers.
Chairman of the Board of Asanteman Europe, also the Asantemanhene for Finland, Nana Ekuoba Gyasi Sempremo Gyimah on his part said that their aim is to support development in Ghana and also help build capacity as many people as possible in their homes.
He disclosed that in 2020 alone, Asanteman Europe has donated hospital equipment and COVID-19 prevention items to four (4) healthcare institutions in Ghana to strengthen their operations and improve healthcare delivery. in the country.
The goods worth 22,000 euros included 10 beds and their accessories, and two phototherapy machines at Manhyia Hospital; medical suits, surgical masks, gloves, face shields and personalized bottled water cartons at KATH, Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research (KCCR) and Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in Accra.
Nana Gyasi Gyimah, however, is optimistic that the necessary funds will be raised to support bright but needy children and among other development projects as planned in the future.
Speaking to Adom News, the Chairman of the Executive Council of Asanteman Europe, Andrews Norriswood, better known as Papa Yaw Agyei, called on all Asante people and Ghanaians in Europe to join the respective associations in Europe to defend their interests.
Papa Yaw Agyei also urged Asante unions in Europe that are not part of the umbrella association to join Asanteman Europe in fostering development in Ghana.
Some of the guests expected to grace the occasion include Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Francis Danti Kotia, Asanteman Traditional Rulers in Europe.
Nana Konadu Yiadom, Konahene in Manhyia will lead a delegation from Manhyia to represent Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Others also include, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, Kumawumanhene, some astute businessmen expected on occasion including the Founder/Owner of Despite Group Of Companies, Dr. Osei-Kwame Despite, CEO of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kwaku Oteng and among others.
