It was only now that the total amount of money raised was calculated and final figures showed that the campaign raised an incredible € 49,381 from generous listeners, which was then doubled for reach nearly € 100,000 from sponsors.

Martin Nathan, President of Talk Radio Europe who designed the campaign, explained that the name of the campaign “ONE IN A MILLION” was chosen in recognition of Joan Hunt, the founder and driving force behind Cudeca who was a human being. “One in a million”. .

The campaign continues throughout January and has so far raised almost € 220,000 with more and more donations being received all the time.

Its objective is to create and finance for four years the first pediatric palliative care hospice accessible to all children and adolescents in the province of Malaga.

The facility would include comprehensive specialist care and supportive support for children and adolescents, as well as their close families.

It would have an expert team of professionals (doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, music therapists, art and play therapists, teachers) and volunteers, to provide care at home, at the Cudeca Center, at the Pediatric Palliative Care Day Unit and after the conversion of Joan Hunt’s former home to the new inpatient unit.

Cudeca especially thanked the hosts and presenters of TRE for their hard work and effort over the weekend, putting their communications expertise to work in the service of much needed fundraising.
